Enjoy an evening of Jazz with pianist, Sam Peoples and vocalist, Lynne Billig.
Peoples, a native San Franciscan, is part of a multi-generational family of musicians and performers. He and his father were both musicians during the heyday of San Francisco’s Fillmore district Harlem of the West period (and both appear in the famous photo that pays homage to “A Great Day in Harlem”). Over his long music career Sam has toured and played with Oscar Brown, Jr., the Pointer Sisters, Julian Preister and Marine Intrusion, and Sonny Simmons. In recent years, Sam has toured and played in Europe with various musicians, in addition to playing locally with various bands.
More recently, Sam has teamed with vocalist Lynne Billig. Ms Billig has been developing her vocal skills over the last 15 years by studying with a variety of jazz vocal musicians including Madeleine Eastman, Jesse Foster, Masha Campagne, Sharman Duran. She has performed with local musicians that include Gary Zellerbach, MB Hanif, Pierre Archain, Gerald Beckett, and Carl Herder and was co-leader of jazGroup du jour.
Over the last two years, Sam and Lynne have performed at various venues and private events in the San Francisco and greater bay area including Mr Tipples Recording Studio (S.F.), Fenix (San Rafael), Main Street Bistro and Cabaret (Guerneville), SF Porchfest, and Burlingame Downtown Association First Friday outdoor stroll.
